The group discussed the revision of the IEMG Operations Manual (in final draft stage), Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) and A-Team Update, IEMG Strategic planning, and presentations on Critical Infrastructure Security and Risk Assessment and Adaptation in PEI.

November - Connecticut

The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Mystic, Connecticut. The group discussed the IEMG Operations Manual, the US National Level Exercise 2020 (which is scheduled to have participation from Atlantic Canadian jurisdictions), Cyber and Critical Infrastructure planning, climate change discussion, Utility crews border crossing, Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), and group Strategic Planning.

June - Newfoundland Labrador

The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The group discussed renewing the groups Strategic planning, reformatting the IEMG Operations Manual, Climate change, as well as presentations on the 2018 Merrimack Valley Gas Explosion (Massachusetts), and Spring 2019 floods in Quebec.

2018  

October  - Rhode Island- The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Providence, Rhode Island. The group discussed the IEMG Operations Manual, the 2018 annual report and USAR in the Northeast, as well as presentations on Donations Management, Federal Level Cross Border, and Rhode Island’s State Resiliency Project on climate change. The jurisdiction of Connecticut presented an abbreviated version of the Black Sky Exercise, geared to a cybersecurity and blackout event.

June - Nova Scotia - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The group discussed the IEMAC Request process (asset or personnel) and lessons learned from recent IEMAC request by the Province of New Brunswick, as well as presentations and discussions on climate change, spontaneous donations and donations management, the differences in definitions in comfort/warming centers, and the 2016 Cape Breton Flood.

November - Vermont – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Fairlee, Vermont. The group discussed the three Canada/US compacts, possible participation in the US FEMA National Level Exercise as well as presentations on Cross Border climate change adaptation, US Regional Resiliency Assessment Program, and Vermont Agency of Natural Resources presented on Reducing Flood Impacts through post flood protection and restoration of Vermont rivers, river corridors and floodplains.

June - New Brunswick – The International Emergency Management Group met in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. The group discussed Bi-National Mutual Aid Interoperability as well as presentations on NB Ice Storm Response, Halifax explosion, NS drought and water distribution and Economic Loss Analysis – Loss of The Confederation Bridge.

December - New Hampshire – The International Emergency Management Group met in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The group continued discussion on Forms and Border Crossing and proposed a future workshop with the other border sharing groups NEMAC & PNEMA. The group saw presentations on the Update Hazmat Initiative Project, NJ Podcast Program, and Cross Border Energy Sector Resiliency.

June - Quebec – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, Quebec. The group continued discussions on Resource Management, and Border Crossing forms and procedures. Quebec reported on their response to the influx of Syrian refugees.


 2015

December - Maine – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Portland, Maine. : Dialogue to create a working group to include border crossing agencies and federal partners was discussed. Proposed determining some forms to include in the operations manual and share with utility companies. Discussions also presented around Mission Ready Packages, Resource Management, and ICS Implementation.

June - Prince Edward Island – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. PEI hosted a Confederation Bridge Exercise including simulated events and situation reports.  Its objective is to build on situational awareness, mutual aid, training and exercise coordination, and assets crossing the border. High level objectives included disruption of the International Bridge. IEMG Website and strategic plan were discussed.

November - Massachusetts – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Boston, Massachusetts. Public Health discussion held regarding Ebola. Presentations given on climate change, HazMat and terrorism threats. Canadian Co-Chair, Dave McCormack, will continue to maintain Co-Chair seat through to spring 2015.

May - Newfoundland – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in St. Johns, Newfoundland. IEMG and use of social media was discussed. Updating the existing Operations Manual discussed and changes were suggested; revisions to be finalized prior to fall 2014 meeting.

November - Connecticut – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Hartford, Connecticut. Rhode Island is now a full member of IEMG.  Discussed IEMG and the use of social media and Emergency Alerting Systems; this will be brought forward to the spring 2014 meeting in Newfoundland and Labrador.

May - Nova Scotia – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Work continued at the Director level to discuss sustainability initiatives, identify meeting structure and frequency, and advance the previously identified strategic goals in 2013. Version 2 of the IEMG Operations Manual was updated and approved by the board of directors.

November - Rhode Island – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Newport, Rhode Island. A functional exercise was completed which tested the abilities to make formal requests for assistance and monitor the capabilities to identify the requested resources and provide response to originator.  Work continued at the Director and Working Group level to advance the identified strategic goals in 2012.

May - Quebec – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, Quebec. Training was provided on the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) and A-Teams, a tabletop exercise was conducted to review the assistance request forms (IREQ); and strategic goals, objectives and future tasks were also discussed.
