2016

May 2016 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, Quebec. The group continued discussions on Resource Management, and Border Crossing forms and procedures. Quebec reported on their response to the influx of Syrian refugees.

2015

December 2015 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Portland, Maine. : Dialogue to create a working group to include border crossing agencies and federal partners was discussed. Proposed determining some forms to include in the operations manual and share with utility companies. Discussions also presented around Mission Ready Packages, Resource Management, and ICS Implementation.

June 2015 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. PEI hosted a Confederation Bridge Exercise including simulated events and situation reports.  Its objective is to build on situational awareness, mutual aid, training and exercise coordination, and assets crossing the border. High level objectives included disruption of the International Bridge. IEMG Website and strategic plan were discussed.

2014

November 2014 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Boston, Massachusetts. Public Health discussion held regarding Ebola. Presentations given on climate change, HazMat and terrorism threats. Canadian Co-Chair, Dave McCormack, will continue to maintain Co-Chair seat through to spring 2015. 

May 2014 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in St. Johns, Newfoundland. IEMG and use of social media was discussed. Updating the existing Operations Manual discussed and changes were suggested; revisions to be finalized prior to fall 2014 meeting.

2013

November 2013 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Hartford, Connecticut. Rhode Island is now a full member of IEMG.  Discussed IEMG and the use of social media and Emergency Alerting Systems; this will be brought forward to the spring 2014 meeting in Newfoundland and Labrador. 

May 2013 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Work continued at the Director level to discuss sustainability initiatives, identify meeting structure and frequency, and advance the previously identified strategic goals in 2013. Version 2 of the IEMG Operations Manual was updated and approved by the board of directors.

2012

November 2012 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Newport, Rhode Island. A functional exercise was completed which tested the abilities to make formal requests for assistance and monitor the capabilities to identify the requested resources and provide response to originator.  Work continued at the Director and Working Group level to advance the identified strategic goals in 2012.

May 2012 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This meeting primarily focused on Strategic planning. Working sessions were conducted continuing the focus on three main goals and tasks associated with these goals.

2011

November 2011 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Burlington, Vermont.  This meeting primarily focused on Strategic planning. Working sessions were conducted focusing on three main goals and tasks associated with these goals and a presentation on the IEMAC Memorandum of Understanding and Compact to refresh and familiarize members.

May 2011 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, Quebec. Training was provided on the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) and A-Teams, a tabletop exercise was conducted to review the assistance request forms (IREQ); and strategic goals, objectives and future tasks were also discussed.

2010

December 2010 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This meeting was primarily focused on education/information presentations and discussions regarding operational issues with the IEMG.

May 2010 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in St. John’s, Newfoundland Labrador. Working group discussions, informational/education presentations, work plan reviewed, developed task assignments list.

2009

October 2009 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Freeport, Maine. Functional exercise was performed simulating a hurricane impacting Maine and New Brunswick primarily. The overall exercise goal was to support the validation and development of the Operations Manual, and identify the logistical concerns and resource integration requirements for a natural disaster; Health Partners Working Group formed.

May 2009 – The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Georgetown Royalty, Prince Edward Island. Working group discussions, informational/education presentations, and exercise planning for Functional Exercise scheduled for Fall 2009. Beginning discussion concerning the creation of a Health Partners Working Group.

November 2008 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Boston, MA. Working group discussions and informational/educational presentations; Report of results of telephone exercise.

June 2008 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Halifax, NS. Exercise Event – Tabletop exercise based on a Halifax harbor explosion scenario.

December 26, 2007 – President George W. Bush signed in law S.J. Resolution 13

November 2007 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Newport, RI. Bylaws reviewed and approved; Definitions & Acronyms list is now a “living document” to be reviewed annually; Strategic plan reviewed.

June 2007 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Fredericton, NB. Bylaws completed and approved; 1st scheduled telephone exercise conducted prior to meeting – all but 1 jurisdiction contacted successfully.

January 4, 2007– Senate Joint Resolution 13 passed by the U.S. Congress providing consent to the IEMG MOU.

2006

Octobre 2006 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Stow, VT. Tabletop Exercise performed simulating a public health outbreak – further regional planning needs & procedures were identified; Federal Partners Working Group formed; Form templates submitted by the Administrative WG and approved by board.

May 2006 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, QC. The Guidebook and Operations manual was approved by the board – to be implemented when mutual aid will be asked by one of the IEMG Jurisdictions; Working groups were identified & the federal partners were invited to join in the working group discussions; the Strategic Plan was developed and became focus of the working groups. IEMAC was approved by the US Senate but waiting approval from the US House of Representatives ~ no issues foreseen on the Canadian side.

September 2003 - Resolution 28-2, A Resolution Concerning Cross-Border Security, and also reaffirming support for the IEMG, was passed by the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

June 2003 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Halifax, NS with the MSCWG meeting the day before the main meeting and then reporting progress to the main meeting.

January 2003 - The MSCWG met in Portland, ME to develop a work plan and to form sub working groups.

2002

ctober 2002 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Boston, MA and were joined by potential members of the medical surge capacity working group (MSCWG)

August 2002 - Resolution 27-3, A Resolution Commemorating the Anniversary of September 11, 2001, and Concerning Security and Border Management between Canada and the United States, and also reaffirming support for the IEMG, was passed by the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

August 2002 - Quebec, New Brunswick and Massachusetts sign the IEMAMOU at the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

June 2002 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Saint John, NB.

June 2001 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Quebec City, QC to continue development of procedures for implementation of the 'compact'.

February 2001 - The International Emergency Management Group (IEMG) met in Montreal, QC to begin implementation of the IEMAC 'compact'.

July 2000 - Letters expressing intent to fully participate in the IEMAC are signed by the Governors of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont; and the Premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Quebec, during the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

July 2000 - Maine, New Hampshire, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia sign the IEMAC at the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

July 2000 - The International Emergency Management Assistance Memorandum of Understanding (IEMAC) was accepted by the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.

June 2000 - Representatives of States and Provinces met in Portland, ME to finalize the language for the "compact".

October 1999 - Maine reported on the progress toward developing an international emergency management assistance compact to the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers where direction was received to complete all legal reviews by 1 January 2000.

October 1998 - Representatives of States and Provinces met in Portland, ME to begin to draft a formal 'compact' for mutual assistance between IEMG members.

June 8, 1998 - The Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers pass Resolution 23-5, A Resolution Concerning the International Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
